Is the Helen III licensed?
Yes, the Helen III is a Coast Guard inspected and certified vessel. Only vessels that carry over 6 passengers are Coast Guard inspected and certified. Both of our Captains have 100 Ton Master Licenses issued by the USCG. Our whole crew participates in a USCG sanctioned drug testing program. The Helen III also has all required state and federal fishing permits.
How many people can we bring on our trip?
For fishing charters we typically cut it off at 15 people because it starts to get crowded on the deck and people start to get limited fishing time with more than that. For non fishing charters we can carry more people up to 25 in some cases depending on the event. Call for more information on capacity.
What about bad weather?
The Captains keep a close eye on the weather all season long and try to make a determination as early as possible on decisions to cancel or alter trips due to weather. If there is a concern about weather before your trip call 860-460-8793 to get the most current update. Please refrain from calling before 5am.
What if the fishing is "bad"?
There's no such thing as a bad day fishing, some days the fishing is just more difficult than other days, on those days just remember the famous saying, "a bad day fishing is still better than a good day at work."
