The Boat: The Helen III is a 45' long, 16' wide downeast-style boat built by DMR Boat Works of Maine. Having a wide beam and a super structure low to the water gives the Helen III one of the most stable rides available. With a fishing deck of over 270 square feet, the Helen III stands out as having the most fishing room of any charter boat in her class. Coast Guard Certificated to carry 20 passengers, the Helen III is one of the few charter boats in CT able to carry more than 6 passengers. The Helen III has all brand new state of the art fishing gear. The wheelhouse is loaded with electronics and with the wheel house at fishing deck level, you get to see whats happening. With an outstanding vessel and years of experience, choosing the Helen III for your next charter is a great decision.
History: The Helen III is the 6th vessel to be owned within the Glas family. Those of you familiar with the Glas family know they started in Montauk in the 1940's. The first vessel owned was a converted 38' wooden yatch named the Frances Ann. After that came the Helen, a 47' wooden ex-rum runner. The Helen II was next followed by the Hel-Cat (famous catamaran) and the current Hel-Cat II. With the addition of the Helen III, the tradition continues. The Hel-Cat dock now offers you a destination for all your fishing needs. From the largest party boat to the largest charter boat and over 60 years of experience!
Fishing Grounds: The Helen III is extremely fortunate to be centrally located to some of the best fishing grounds available. Regular trips are with in 1 hour of an array of well known spots. These spots include  Plum Gut east to Watch Hill Reef including all of the Race and Fishers Island Sound.  Don't miss our Extended Trips to Montauk or Block Island for some added adventure.
